Ricardo Silenzie is well an actor best
known in an action movie titled #66. But not a lot people know he is also a
student in Tarumanagara University majoring in Communication Studies. One of
our editorial staff had an exclusive interview with Ricardo Silenzie.
Q: How long does it takes to shoot a movie?
A: On the production and shooting part, it
takes two months, but there is three parts in a film making. Pre-production is
to prepare, production, and post-production. In pre-production we have to preparing,
search for locations, casting talents and artists, search for sponsors and
investors. Shooting takes two months. Post-production is to promote the film,
talk to the cinemas. Overall it would take less than a year.
Q : What are the ups and downs acting in a
movie?
A: Let me start from the downs. Talking
about action film, the first challenge is having big risk being injured while
acting action stuff that could be mild or even fatal. Our choreographer who
also acted in the film #66 had an injury. Shattered glass was stabbed on his
leg. I myself have had his joints
injured and a few bruises on elbows and legs because of the fighters were lack
of control so they hit bones. Maybe, other downs are that filming an action
movie took a long time and a lot of energy to film. But on the other side,
Ricardo told us that #66 movie is a different project, as an action movie the
spirit is different, and having the previous project won awards from film
festival, they always are happy on every project to maintain their movie
quality. The crew is also solid and felt
like a family to him, so when they are shooting they felt happy even though
they are tired.
Q: Managing time between being an actor and
a student is not an easy thing to do.How do you manage your time between
studying and working?
A:
For shooting part, I am more contributing to the film making part. So,
firstly in I pay attention when teacher speaks and does my homework afterwards.
I also did my homework on my break time at work sometimes. But when it’s time
to have meetings and other work related stuff, I focus on his work. The key is
to maximize the time I owns as possible and not wasting time.
Q: What are your hopes for Indonesian’s
film industry afterwards?
A: I hope for the future, film tenants and
audiences could love Indonesian movies more, so Indonesian’s film industry
could rise again after all this time is being dimmed. Maybe it’s because of
they have lost its competitiveness against Hollywood movies and Indonesian had
the thought that Hollywood movies are better than Indonesians. In the film #66
we want to show that Indonesian’s work can have certain quality just like
Hollywood’s and won a lot of film festivals like Hollywood movies and I hope
Indonesia’s product such as movies could be supported by Indonesian, and more
production house that brings up stories from Indonesia, not stories from
Hollywood.
Q: Do you have any plans to do more acting
after this movie?
A: I don’t know yet about my next act,
because it depends on my production house. But I looks forward for another film;
he always wants to create good quality stuff that could be accepted by
Indonesians and other counties also.
